Abby Speaks. Team Lumad hits Iligan!
Abby of Team Lumad |
Abby of Team Lumad talks about their journey and experiences in the recently concluded Daddy's Cup in Iligan City. Traveling from one place to another for hours is tough, but it's all worth it the moment you step on the field with your teammates, playing the sport that you love.
Here's Abby:
"Last July 11-12 2015. For the first time, the team traveled together for almost Five hours from Malaybalay to the city of Iligan. We started our journey at two in the morning. It was also the teams first experience to immediately go out there and play with not enough rest, something to eat and a place to fix ourselves and change considering we lacked time to find a convenient venue to do it. We all know that it's very uncomfortable to go into battle if you weren't able to prepare all the necessary things that you need to do. But, we did our very best to perform well at the prestigious Daddy's Cup.
Even though, we promised not to travel with that time schedule again, and amidst all the constraints we've encountered, it didn't hindered us to achieve our goal and play ultimate Frisbee. Should I say, 'For the love of Ultimate!' It was all about meeting old and new friends and know other team's tactics and strategies.
To catch up with a well deserved rest, we opted not to stay longer during the first day socials, so that we could gain enough energy for the next day. Like any other teams, we also encountered trials and adversities, but our passion, trust and confidence among our teammates locked us to SECOND PLACE finish, which made us very happy. The trophy is something to bring home to our other teammates who weren't able to compete due to their busy schedule. As much as we wanted to join the party during the second day socials, we still have lots of things to catch up at our own respective places at home, unfortunately.
Nevertheless, everything is all worth it. Again, for the love of our sport, we will conquer everything no matter what it takes in order to represent our beloved team, "LUMAD". We are extending our big thanks to all who became part of our glorious journey. Cheers!" - Abby
