Behind the Stage

Every showcase is seen in a stage of any kind. There are stars and viewers. Nowadays there are media, people want to share the showcase to the world outside the stage. There are people like us too, who want to share things that are no so glittery and glamorous. Keeping tab on stories of journeys and hard work.

In this showcase, There are a lot of stories for us, now I'm sharing stories of the people who assembled the stars. people who scour the nooks and crannies of the Philippine Ultimate communities to find rare talents and give them avenue to be seen on stage. Those who burn midnight candles to do the dirty work. Those who lead by example.

Karen Cabrera in her alone time. These are the times where her magic happens. calling people and moving pieces. while everyone is busy in the show, she is busy keeping the foundations solid.

In this showcase let us focus on three of these midnight candle burners. Karen Cabrera, President of the Philippine Flying Disc Association. Karen is keeping the dream of having an Olympic ready National team even in this time when everyone is excited to be back to competing again. Many known names wanted to part of this TP, but Karen and the core kept on the path of development.

Kenneth de Guzman, Coach and Mr. "Let me do that for you". I have seen Kenneth's determination and work first when he trained to with the dragons for WCBU Royan, France in 2017.
In prepping for this TP, Kenneth is hosting eight provincial players. These 8 people are in his watch while managing 25 staff members of his apparel business.
He, is new with hosting and housing players. Without him recognizing it at first, he was overwhelmed. He recognized when days before the bootcamp he had a bizarre incident. He the  left his car keys and some important documents (things that he usually have in his car all the time) in three different  places.  He ended up driving back and forth to his apartment, his parents' house and his shop just to find these things. According to him, this doesn't happen to him.

A coach who preps water for his team.

Kenneth and X talking about stats of a scrimmage.

Lastly, we have Xtian Guerrero. Maybe one of the longest running National team member. Known as one of the top players and leaders (Known to be leading by example) of the sport in the country. This time, he is transitioning into a playing Coach (we could see where this is leading). Together with Kenneth and Karen, X is also a proponent of this TP of the future concept.

Now that we know who are keeping this boat afloat, let's keep them in mind while we are entertained by this showcase of talents.
Watch out for more updates about the Pilipinas Ultimate the next three weeks as they take on the journey of carrying the flag for the first time in almost three years.

Lagi't Lagi para sa bayan.
