Pilipinas Ultimate Bootcamp in a Graveyard?

No, not really. It’s more like Pilipinas Ultimate hosted by Graveyard.

Pilipinas Utimate National team had their first bootcamp at Lipa City Academy for Sports Culture and Arts. The Academy has a turf football field that was lent to the National team with the efforts of SK Chairman Rjay, a member of the local Ultimate frisbee team - the Graveyard Ultimate.

Here’s a little trivia about the name, they call themselves Graveyard Ultimate because when they were starting, their playing field was a graveyard. Can you even imagine playing in graveyard?

Others may take the chance of hosting the national team as an opportunity to join and learn in the trainings, but they took this chance to offer service to the national team, Pilipinas Ultimate, and all of us supporting the team.

They took care of all errands, meals and arranged the accommodations, even did the laundry of training jerseys after the first day.

A feast of barbecue, goto, and seafood were waiting when we got to Barangay Lodlod. All the national team had to do was find a cozy spot, freshen up and chill the night away.

Food were prepped by Kiko (from his silogan, Kainan sa Brgy. Tibay), Dee and the other boys grilled the 'liempo' while Jay-r Panulaya took care of peeling mangoes after he trained with the team in the morning and had a monster showing in a local basketball league.

SK Chairman Rjay and the Graveyard women also spent some time chatting with some of the Pilipinas Ultimate Women.

Locally brewed coffee and Lomi greeted the team early in the morning before heading back to the field.

Everybody cleaned up, and made sure everything was in order before heading out. Meanwhile the Graveyard boys stayed to do some thorough cleaning of the house.

This greek inspired house is owned by Addie Pamplona’s family. Addie who introduced Ultimate frisbee to the locals of Brgy. Lodlod, is now based in the US.

[Backstory] The hosts cannot find a good accommodation for the national team, luckily Osh, while on his way to the moon, had a crazy idea of asking Addie if he would let the national team use their house. Gladly, Addie obliged.

While most of the team stayed in Addie’s house, some are hosted by Gelo, a player of Sid Vicious who is also a local of Lipa.

The Pilipinas Ulitmate national team, and all who are involved are very grateful of what Graveyard, Gelo and locals of Lipa city had done during the first bootcamp.

Shoutout to Ricoh de Veyra who was also in the background guiding Graveyard along the way. Dapat daw mag #kubohits pagbalik namin diyan sa Lipa!
